GUIDE ~ our guiding principles

The eight dimensions of wellness (emotional/mental, physical, social/cultural, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, financial, and occupational) play a key role in shaping Compass Cooperative’s organizational culture. When we as a community foundation value emotional/mental wellness, it encourages open communication and support among staff, volunteers and the community. Physical wellness might be seen through programs that promote healthy lifestyles. Social and spiritual wellness create a sense of belonging and shared purpose, helping everyone feel connected and motivated. Intellectual wellness is fostered through learning opportunities and creative problem-solving, while environmental wellness shows up in sustainable practices and respect for the space and community. Financial wellness includes financial literacy and entrepreneurship programs, and occupational wellness supports meaningful work and professional growth. Together, these dimensions create and guide a positive culture that supports both the staff and volunteers at Compass and the community we serve.

NAVIGATE ~ our tenets and values

Compass Cooperative’s tenets and values serve as the foundation for our policies, regulations, decision-making, and financial accountability. Our organization is guided by values like equity, community empowerment, transparency, and respect, and these principles influence every choice we make. Our policies ensure programs are accessible and inclusive, and that everyone is treated fairly. Regulations support ethical behavior, safety, and accountability, reinforcing trust among staff, volunteers, and the community we serve. Our decision-making is focused on long-term impact rather than quick rewards, prioritizing the needs of the community above personal gain. Fiscal responsibility reflects the foundation’s commitment to using funds wisely, investing in programs that align with our mission, and maintaining transparency with our donors and community partners. In this way, our tenets and values don’t just inspire our work—they direct how we operate every day.

DISCOVER ~ our core beliefs

Our philosophy is centered on empowering children and families to live healthy, be safe, and to thrive. Compass believes that everyone deserves access to knowledge and resources that support their physical well-being, financial stability, and future opportunities. Committed to equity, we understand that a community’s health and success relies on more than just workshops and programs, it also needs advocacy and strong support systems. We strive to remove barriers to support long-term wellness, encourage personal growth and strengthen the community by helping everyone reach their full potential. Overall, our core beliefs are rooted in discovering the best in every child, in every family, in every community.
